Nate Waters

Nate Waters called himself a Native Chicagoan but made Tulsa his home. Tulsa is proud to have had Nate Waters claim the city as his home. Nate was a victim of domestic violence, which caused him to lose the use of his legs among other medical complications. Nate Waters used his disabilities to be a voice and champion for domestic violence victims and for improved transportation for people with physical challenges. Nate Waters passed away on April 21, 2013 at the age of 35. Nate is gone from us, but his message is not forgotten. His story highlights how poor sidewalks limits transportation accessibility for people with disabilities.
