J.D. Walker

I have commuted daily from the edge of Bixby in deep South Tulsa to downtown Tulsa for more than 15 years. By doing this, I have racked up over seventy-five thousand miles on my bike and have saved the environment over 37 tons of carbon monoxide (CO). Every mile you drive an internal combustion vehicle engine the exhaust produces one pound of CO. I saved over $100,000 by not having to purchase a car, fuel, license plates, vehicle insurance or parking in downtown Tulsa. Over the years my route has taken me on neighborhood streets, arterial streets (short distances), bike trails, downtown streets and many unplanned detours. Fortunately, during this time, I have not had any serious accidents. I feel I am a healthier person for commuting daily on my bicycle.
